Making an entrance for Digital Cinema Media

We were invited into DCM’s central London office to assess the look and feel of their workspace. Although it had been fitted out only a couple of years previously by a design & build company, the fit out lacked the personality that the brand desired to properly represent the industry that they are part of . DCM are a lively, young and dynamic cinema marketing business and very much wanted to add some movie style drama and character to their office.

Many areas were working well but the reception was very dark and not doing a great job of telling the company’s story, nor of creating a warm welcome. Our redesign of this area included a bespoke reception desk and a ceiling of studio lights to add theatricality and glamour which made for a red carpet style experience for clients visiting their state of the art screening facility.

 
 

Interior design that makes all the difference

We used our interior design and styling knowledge to add some finesse to other common areas, for example using theatre style drapes to conceal storage areas which solved the issue of clutter and saved money on creating bespoke pieces. In addition, we were asked to redesign two very cluttered and unloved meeting rooms. The refurbished rooms had simple, stylish furniture that was fit for purpose, alongside imagery and prop style accessories to add character.

Other areas of the office simply required some finishing touches. By rearranging existing furniture we were able to create informal, collaborative spaces. Adding biophilia through the introduction of plants in key areas induced a calming effect. In other parts of the office, our stylists had fun creating some perfect looking but low maintenance ‘shelfies’ and used strategic accessories to add colour and life to the space.

Small works for big results

The final result is a space that now feels cohesive in it’s overall design and that celebrates both the team who work there and the industry they work within. DCM now have really practical, user-friendly spaces to collaborate and meet informally as well as stylish meeting rooms and a state of the art screening facility.

Our small works projects such as DCM are great examples of how thoughtful furniture choices and creative styling can make the world of difference in bringing a brand and their story to life while injecting fun and personality to their office.

The extension of this Victorian end of terrace in Walthamstow was in the planning, dreaming and discussion stage for many years as it was to be undertaken with neighbours; The decision was made collectively by both families to undertake the projects at the same time thus being more likely to get planning approval in the conservation zone as well as some reduced costs on Build works and the party wall being used to its maximum.

The fifth office Trifle* have designed for Moo.com. This time, they wanted to reinvent the way that they worked post-covid, to embrace a more flexible approach. The project involved adaption of a huge communal area and a transformation of an existing dark office space to create their new home.
