The Writing is on the Wall

A space to tell a story, a space to create, a space to store.....walls can and should work hard for you. So why are they so often neglected in the workspace.

This week we wanted to talk to you about the oft-neglected walls in your space. Here are some recommendations for making them work for you.

Firstly, let them tell your story. Whether directly through showing your work or in a fun way by showing pics of your team, at work or at play. Make sure people know who you are when they walk into your space. (See images above from Trifle spaces for Moo and OMD).

Another use is storage. Shelves and bookcases can create a library feel. Wonderful practical accessories like the classic Vitra Uten.Silo (below) make a feature out of the mundane.

Walls are the ideal place to let people express themselves - give people permission to create by hanging rolls of kraft paper or painting walls with blackboard paint. Our clients at Long Tall Sally always have a great display on the blackboard in their cafe area.

Or just make them pretty! Decoration is never wasted - use eye catching wallpapers, tin tiles or create a gallery with (mis)matched frames. Wonderful.
