London Design Festival 2019: Trifle* Highlights

London Design Festival hit London even bigger and better than before - team trifle* tried to cram in as much of it as possible and here are our highlights.

Kirkby Design

Textile studio Kirkby design refurbished a 1967 Victoria Line tube carriage - Looking like it’s come straight from a Wes Anderson film set this old tube carriage has been lovingly brought back to life in beautiful pastel shades and mix of fabrics. An immersive installation that was a real highlight

Roksanda Ilincic Penthouse

Gasholders opened up The Penthouse by fashion designer Roksanda Ilincic. Built within a grade 11-listed cast iron gas holder guide frames. The stylish 3 bedroom penthouse flat is a celebration of female designers and makers - perfectly capturing Ilincic’s modernist sensibility and colour blocking

Floor_Story

We can’t fail to mention our friends at floor_story - recent collaborations include Sebastian Wrong, John Booth and Camille Walala. They are also now award winning - what clever things!

Other highlights from around the show, and there were plenty of them included Benchmark - their quality and craftmanship faultless as always and we LOVE the new Sage Collection with David Rockwell.

Craig + Rose had a selection of new dreamy colours that were showcased with innovative colour blocking installations.

Horticus Living - A more affordable way to incorporate a living wall with these lovely DIY kits

Petite Friture - We simply love this french company, great lighting and furniture but they are also nailing the accessories and we can’t get enough of their wallpapers!

Tom Pigeon - Giving a little bit back with their Make Bank - Their social project that gives young people from disadvantaged backgrounds art kits so they can pursue and explore creative education. We definitely think this is worth shouting about.

We also have to mention the new Everyman Cinema at Kings Cross - not part of LDF but we stumbled across it on our travels and are sure glad we did. A space so nice you are in danger of missing your film!
